Went to the park yesterday for about an hour. Did pull-ups and spent time on the balance beam. Also power walked and walked up and down hills.
There were a lot more people at the park than I anticipated. I was glad. I was a little nervous about going by myself. I needn't have worried. There were several mothers with children, college students and retirees. Additionally, there was a parks and rec employee smoothing out the sand with a tractor thing and some workers nearby. They were doing construction of some kind, but I couldn't tell what they were doing.
Yesterday afternoon my arms were KILLING me. I remember a tetanus injection that felt that way. It was like having the flu in my biceps. After work (and last night's episode of Chuck) I soaked in a warm bath with Epsom Salts and Patchouli Oil. This morning my arms are barely sore at all. Thank God!!
I'm skipping today and tomorrow since I have corporate chair massages to do tomorrow. (Sore arms would not be fun for chair massage.) Also, the cable guy is coming today. :)

The Begining
Thursday night 1-7-10
Melodie, Carol and I went to a park in East Mesa that I had spotted while driving by. For weeks I had been peering out the car window and thinking, "I think that park will work for Fans of Ninja Warrior."
When we got there, I was immediately excited. From the car I couldn't see just how perfect it really was. The three of us ran aaround for a while, experimenting and playing on all the equiptment, and were able to create all four stages for our competition.
Saturday 1-9-10
Melodie was unable to join us, but Carol and I got together to start "training". We'd confirmed on Thursday that what we really needed most was upper body strength. While we will need total body strength with focus on ad/abductors, and cardiovascular strength, and a personal goal for me is abdominal definition, I believe, that with out first building strength in my arms and shoulders, my adventure with Fans of Ninja Warrior will be short lived.
So, Saturday Carol and I visited a park near my house. We found horizontal bars we could use for standing pull ups and bars we could hang from. We also employed some power walking up and down the path and used a balance beam for some balance and core stability work.
Sunday 1-10-10
WOW! My biceps hurt so much. My delts, traps and rhomboids are also noticeably sore. As are my triceps and various abs. I feel some change in my forearms and glutes, but those are minor and could be from my job as much as anything.
Monday 1-10-10
I'm going out on my own this morning. I've eaten some wheat toast with
organic peanut butter and real maple syrup. Don't want to be hungry while exercising. Probably going to repeat Saturday's routine.
